While Broadway and the West End are dark, The Theatre Café is presenting a series of concerts with stars of the West End. Aimie Atkinson, currently starring in Pretty Woman, joined the virtual line up for her own live streamed concert.
The concert was a look into some of the roles and shows that she's been a part of, including from her current starring role. To start, she took on "Anywhere But Here" and "It's My Life," both from Pretty Woman, and both absolutely stunning. They were followed up with "Breathe" from In the Heights, which she played Daniela in a few years ago, and what is arguably the most popular song from Les Miserables, "On My Own."
The concert was interspersed with little stories, including how she's auditioned for Les Mis probably twenty times and never got it, as well as her obsession with Saturday Night Fever. Fittingly, this was quickly followed with a gorgeous rendition of "If I Can't Have You." She was also joined by Tom Gribby for a duet of "As Long as You're Mine" from Wicked.
The concert wrapped up with "Live for the One I Love" from Notre Dame de Paris, though the song has also been covered by Celine Dion, and "I Love You I Do." As a whole, it was a wonderful concert, with beautiful music. Leave a Light On will continue for several more days, and you can find more information about upcoming concerts here.
