While many love to frequent the theater during the summer, sometimes you want to have a fun time without spending more than a subway fare. Here are a few free things to do in NYC.
1. Broadway in Bryant Park is a tradition. This year, every Thursday from July 12th until August 16th, performers from different Broadway and Off-Broadway shows take the stage from 12:30 - 1:30, sharing their show with everyone in the park.
2. While not necessarily Broadway, the Summer HD Festival takes place every August in Lincoln Center. Here, the plaza hosts 10 HD screenings of past Met Opera performances.
3. One of the best known things in the city, Shakespeare in the Park is one of the best ways to see theater. By lining up in the morning, free tickets are given out to those waiting. While Othello recently ended, Twelfth Night begins on July 17th , and will run through August 19th.
