April's show of the month is Waitress! The first Broadway show with an all-female creative team, Waitress has been going strong for almost two years. It originally starred Jessie Mueller as Jenna, a pie-maker who expresses her feeling through her pies. Since Mueller left the role, Sara Bareilles (who wrote the music) has stepped into the part twice, as has Betsy Wolfe. And now, Katherine McPhee of Smash (NBC) fame has now stepped into the role of the pie-maker, making her Broadway debut after playing a Broadway hopeful turned star on her television show.
