Come From Away is a show that is very near and dear to my heart. I saw it several weeks ago for the first time and fell in love with the cast, the music, and the outpouring of love coming from the stage at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre. The day after my first visit, I bought my ticket to go back. And I loved as much as I did the first time, if not more. It was an honor to be able to witness this story unfold again, and I am very lucky to have been able to do so. The cast are phenomenal, their performances as strong as before. You can truly find an emotional connection to the story no matter who you are, and as it say on one of the posters outside the theater, you realize that this is your story. 9/11 impacted many people in different ways and this production helps to give people some comfort, and then send them home with an outpouring of love, happiness, and kindness. Joel Hatch, playing the mayor of Gander, says in the final song “tonight we honor what was lost but we also commemorate what we found”, the show truly does just that and I know I’ll have to go back again.
